I read this to my son expecting yet another simple parable and was pleasantly surprised by the complexity. I remembered very little about reading this book as a kid; basically nothing besides the fact that it was on my bookshelf. the fact that I've been thinking about this childrens book for the last few days is enough for it to get 5 stars in my book. While the text is simple the emotions and actions of the character are very real and complicated. give it a read if you haven't since you were a kid. you might be surprised by how you feel by the end.
